Streamlining and automating paper driven processes into an effective digital format leads to a significant reduction in paper consumption which in turn, translates into saved trees and decreased water usage. In short, document process automation contributes to a greener environment and helps the earth to process carbon emissions in a more sustainable fashion.
An overview of the Eco-Warrior Program
ReadSoft’s Eco-Warrior program, an employee-driven initiative, has been established to respond to these beliefs, its strong commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility and wishes to recognise the efforts of organisations that have re-engineered their processes with eco-efficient products to make an impact on the environment.
With this in mind, ReadSoft has partnered with Rainforest Rescue to participate in their rainforest replanting projects to address the program objectives. To recognise participating companies, ReadSoft makes a donation to Rainforest Rescue to plant 100 rainforest trees on behalf of customers that implement the ReadSoft AP automation solution and who exceed processing volumes of 100,000 invoices per year. Not only are these organisations saving trees, but are making a positive environmental impact by being actively involved in a meaningful regeneration program.
ReadSoft may also choose to make a donation on behalf of customer who, through changed processes, have greatly reduced the paper consumption within their organization.
(The Gartner Group estimates that the average invoice is copied 11 times. This means that for very 100,000 invoices processed, ReadSoft spares the world of 1.1 million paper copies and that Readsoft saves around 50 trees every year. Read more about the environmental impact )
As part of the program ReadSoft also pledges to embark on a continuous paper-reduction project, and, wherever possible, will utilise electronic communication mediums. Savings experiences within ReadSoft from this project, will be ploughed back into creating a greener earth.
Rainforest Rescue "Plant a Rainforest" project
Rainforest Rescue’s Plant a Rainforest project replants and maintains previously cleared areas of Australian Rainforest and establishes habitat for the plants and animals, local to the specific ecosystem, to protect its precious biodiversity. This biodiversity maintains our atmosphere and establishes the ecosystem upon which all of humanity depends, including a rainfall generation and climate regulation. Rainforests also hold the key to future medicines of benefit to humankind.
The numbers of trees saved:

2. Source - Based on one invoice being 1.5 pages long and copied twice, this equates to 450,000 pages per year. A tree produces 22,500 pages of paper (source www.timbercorp.com.au) which equates to 20 fully grown paper-producing trees per year.
